Rhinoplasty – New nose, Same You

In this episode of The Cosmetic Surgery Advisors Podcast, I am going to talk about rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job. You will get concepts and ideas to go in the right direction during the appointment with your plastic surgeon.

Rhinoplasty: What you need to know about a nose job?

Rhinoplasty or nose job is reported as the most reoperated plastic surgery. The reasons are many but essentially what I feel, often times patients find it difficult to express what they want and desire from a surgery.

Do you want a small change in your profile so that nobody can say that you had a plastic surgery? Or, are you okay with a more drastic change in your profile? Having a clear idea of what you want is the key to a successful consultation with the doctor. Now it is the responsibility of the doctor to manage the exceptions of the patient which is often difficult if the consultation does not go in the right direction. So it is common to hear about multiple nose surgeries.

“My goal today is to give you the concepts, thought, and ideas about rhinoplasty so that you can head in the right direction when you go in for a consultation with the doctor.”

There is a lot of buzz about celebrity noses, for example, Kim Kardashian, Meghan Markle which make good reading, not a good reality. It is not possible to look like someone else.  You should not have an unrealistic expectation, without knowing what your favorite celebrities have gone through. Patients who bring in celebrity photos to their consultation are often unaware of the facts of rhinoplasty. Your time with the doctor is limited and having clear notes of what you want to talk about will make your consultation more fruitful.

Some tips that I share in the podcast include:

  • Always start by talking about yourself.
  • Start with a point of beauty that you like. For example, you might say, “I like me, I just want to enhance myself.”
  • The angle of your profile that you like and what you want to change. For example, you might like the proportion of your nose to your chin, etc.

There are many more tips that I share in the podcast. I encourage you to listen to the podcast carefully and make notes if you have to along the way.
